2nd National Schools Chess Championship 2025 Draws Nation’s Brightest Young Minds to Lahore.

Lahore – 1st June 2025 — The Chess Federation of Pakistan (CFP), in proud partnership with FIDE, FIDE EDU, Asian Chess Federation (ACF), and Lahore Grammar School for Boys, Johar Town (LGS JT), successfully hosted the 2nd National Schools Chess Championship from May 31 to June 1, 2025. This prestigious event, held at LGS JT, witnessed the convergence of the country’s most promising scholastic chess talent in one of the largest and most competitive national championships of the year

Schools from across the nation participated in this two-day intellectual tournament, representing a diverse and accomplished spectrum of academic institutions. Notable participating schools included,

* The City School
* Beaconhouse School System
* Aitchison College
* Lahore Grammar School (Various campuses)
* Karachi Grammar School
* Learning Alliance International
* Trinity School
* International Grammar School & College
* BVS Parsi High School
* Karachi School
* Crescent Model School
* The International Grammar School & College
* Scarsdale International School.

The championship was more than a competition—it was a celebration of critical thinking, sportsmanship, and academic excellence. We congratulate the winning team, The City School, which earns the honour of representing Pakistan at the World Schools Team Championship 2025, to be held in Washington, D.C., and Alexandria, USA, from August 2–7, 2025, under the aegis of FIDE.

2nd position. Lahore Grammar School, JT Lahore Team A.

3rd position, Karachi Grammar School.

Chess Federation of Pakistan conveys its profound gratitude to the esteemed officials of FIDE associated with the organization of the World Schools Team Championship 2025. Their unwavering support, strategic guidance, and collaborative spirit have been instrumental in fortifying Pakistan’s presence and representation on the global chess arena. Furthermore, FIDE EDU’s enduring commitment to inclusivity, academic enrichment through chess, and the promotion of international scholastic engagement stands as a beacon of inspiration for the Federation, participating institutions, and the nation’s aspiring young minds.

The tournament was held under the visionary leadership of National Master Mr. Hanif Qureshi, President of the Chess Federation of Pakistan. Under his stewardship, CFP has expanded its educational outreach and institutional engagement across Pakistan, reinforcing chess as a tool for cognitive development, strategic thinking, and youth empowerment.

The organizing team included seasoned officials and dedicated advocates of the game: Mr. Saleem Akhtar, Senior Vice President CFP; Mr. Amer Karim, Acting General Secretary CFP; Mr. Muhammad Yahya Cheema, Central Coordinator Prime Minister’s Mind Sports Initiative and Ms. Farah Majeed, FIDE Arbiter, Ms. Maryam Daud, Mr. Faizan Ullah, Muhammad Hussain, Organizers. Their expertise was further supported by Mr. Muhammad Waqar, Rating/Development Officer CFP, whose contributions ensured the championship’s smooth execution and integrity.

Special gratitude is extended to Mrs. Samina Rahman, Director LGS, whose unwavering mentorship and institutional support were instrumental in bringing this national event to life. Her commitment to academic enrichment and co-curricular excellence continues to inspire students and educators alike.

The event was graced by a distinguished chief guest, Mrs. Samina Rahman, Director LGS, who commended the participants and organizers for their dedication to promoting mind sports and nurturing intellectual talent among Pakistan’s youth.

The Chess Federation of Pakistan remains resolute in its mission to foster a thriving chess culture within educational institutions nationwide. Through initiatives like the National Schools Championship, CFP reaffirms its dedication to positioning Pakistan’s youth on the global stage of mind sports.
