KARACHI – After the new Excise Tax under the new Budget for fiscal year 2025-26, the ‘New Excise Value’ has caused the prices of almost all four-wheelers to go up by a million.
Amid rising prices, Gandhara Industries quickly adopted the new New Excise Value (NEV) Levy introduced in the 2025–26 federal budget. Following the latest rate revision, the price of the Isuzu D-Max increases by Rs415,000, making these vehicles even less affordable for many consumers.
| Model | Price |
|---|---|
| Isuzu D-Max Xterrain 3.0L | 13,390,000 |
| Isuzu D-Max AutoPlus 1.9L | 10,790,000 |
A price hike was soon seen among major brands such as Suzuki, Honda, Kia, Hyundai, and Changan, who have hiked their prices according to the upward trend in car prices over the past week. The reasons for the revised prices could be the NEV Levy, depreciating rupee, and rising import and freight charges, according to manufacturers.
Industry analysts caution that ongoing price increases, especially on 4×4 vehicles like the D-Max, could further diminish consumer confidence in a market already affected by sluggish sales. Both consumers and automakers are urging the government to reconsider recent tax policies to prevent further decline in affordability for the average Pakistani buyer.
