Lahore – The Prime Minister has issued directives to accelerate the advancement of Pakistan’s telecom and digital sectors by launching the long-awaited spectrum auction, a vital part of advancing Pakistan digitally. It is expected to be completed by December 2025.
The development comes following the meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication on Tuesday.
The Auction Supervisory Committee (ASC), chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, will meet on Monday to discuss recommendations from a hired consultant. The consultant’s report will be reviewed at this meeting, leading to the official approval of the auction. Officials have promised to finish the process before the year ends.
The Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology, led by Senator Palwasha Mohammad Zai Khan, convened at the Parliament House to review urgent matters in the telecom and digital industries. The Frequency Allocation Board (FAB) updated the committee on its progress for the spectrum auction, emphasizing important milestones reached since 2021.
