LAHORE – Pakistan on Monday recorded 8,418 confirmed Coronavirus cases while the tally stands at 176 for those who breathed their last owing to the pandemic.

The country has, however, recorded 1970 recoveries so far; the most populous province Punjab, ruled by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, recorded the maximum number of cases.

Have a look at numbers of COVID-19 confirmed cases, recovered patients and the death toll in Pakistan:

Total confirmed cases: 8,645

Balochistan: 432

Whats latest about Sindh?

At least 15 police personnel have so far tested positive for the coronavirus in southern metropolis Karachi, stirring fears about the spread of the pandemic among the law enforcers; the tests, on Monday, reveal the increase of local transmission in the province.

Chief Minister Sindh, Murad Ali Shah disclosed on Monday that 227 new Covid-19 cases surfaced in the province during the last 24 hours after 1,600 tests were conducted.

What bigwigs are doing?

Prime Minister Imran Khan is consistently urging the masses to stay at home.

“My message for people is to stay home as much as possible during this pandemic. The more people show self-discipline, the easier it will be for us to manage the COVID19 plus ease the lockdown gradually,” said the premier in his message.

Meanwhile, religious scholars.met the premier on Monday and discussed ways to mitigate the affects of the pandemic as the holy month of Ramazan is around the corner.

After the meeting, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said the scholars appreciated prime minister’s decision to reopen mosques during the holy month.

In a statement released after the meeting, Maulana Hanif Jalandhari of Wafaqul Madaris Al Arabia, disclosed that the prime minister agreed to release religious leaders and others arrested for violating restrictions during the ongoing lockdown.

Moreover, State Minister of Health, Zafar Mirza confirmed a day earlier that Pakistan has amongst the best responses in the world from both disease control and social mitigation perspectives.

Despite growing number of cases & unfortunate deaths, Pakistan Alhamdolilah has amongst the best responses in the world from both disease control and social mitigation perspectives. Let’s continue to keep it this way. See the graph below: pic.twitter.com/gC9U0KSLAx
