ISLAMABAD – According to the Provincial Energy Department, the Sindh Government’s two solar power projects have been approved by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA). Furthermore, a 120 megawatt solar project will be established in Deh Halkani, along with a 150 megawatt solar project planned for Deh Methagar.
Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that these initiatives are expected to significantly lessen the long hours of load-shedding in Karachi by enhancing the supply of solar energy. The ruling party of Sindh, PPP’s top priority is to provide affordable electricity to the residents of Karachi, said the Energy Minister.
Earlier this year, Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon announced that free solar panels are being distributed to help alleviate the burden of electricity bills. These panels will be distributed among people with a considerable income. The people who are struggling to pay their bills will get huge relief through these initiatives.
He further said that the Sindh government has been working tirelessly to improve the health and basic amenities of its citizens. As part of this initiative, 2.1 million people are being provided with housing, and those who cannot afford to pay their electricity bills will receive free solar systems.
The free solar panel initiative is part of the Sindh government’s broader strategy to promote renewable energy and reduce the province’s reliance on non-renewable energy sources. This initiative falls under the target of the Sindh Government to provide solar systems, which include a solar plate, fan, three bulbs, battery backup, and a mobile charger.
