ISLAMABAD – As baseless rumors regarding Pakistan granting the U.S. full control of its military airbases spread, a strong reaction from Beijing comes; however, these rumors are nothing more than anti-Pakistan propaganda.
The source of these rumors is from a web portal with the name of GlobalFinServe, the contents of the article included claims that Pakistan has handed over access to Nur Khan and the Jacobabad airbase to the U.S. forces.
The claims were backed up by a false narrative that the decision to hand over the airbases was made during a meeting of President Donald Trump and Field Marshal Asim Munir in which Islamabad granted the U.S. permission to carry out its regional operations through the two airbases.
While the article was being shared this material, the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad refuted such claims as false. A senior official emphasized that China’s MSS did not issue any red flags or objections and urged media outlets to refrain from disseminating fabricated stories that could damage diplomatic ties.
Findings related to the articles indicate that 87% of social media engagement was either through bots or coordinated networks, which were associated with anti-Pakistan narrative and Indian disinformation campaigns.
Field Marshal Asim Munir and Donald Trump only discussed diplomatic cooperation and regional peace, without addressing military arrangements. There were no discussions about airbase access or any strategic deals.
