LAHORE – Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, in a surprising development, announced free higher education to the children of registered industrial and mine workers across Punjab.
According to the released statement, students who are eligible under the initiative will be offered admissions at COMSATS University in Islamabad and its seven sub-campuses, including Abbottabad, Wah Cantt, Attock, Lahore, Sahiwal, and Vehari.
Under the newly launched initiative, the Punjab government will pay for all tuition fees of the eligible students. Applications are now being accepted for the program as per the Chief Minister’s directives by the Punjab Workers Welfare Fund. It is pertinent to mention that children of disabled or deceased workers are also entitled under this initiative.
The deadlines for the application vary according to the campus: Islamabad (July 9), Lahore (July 17), Wah Cantt and Abbottabad (August 4), Vehari and Attock (August 11), and Sahiwal (August 15).
