NYC – Following the development of 3 times Grammy winner Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, he has now been convicted on charges of prostitution; however, surprisingly, the rapper was acquitted of charges of racketeering and sex trafficking.
On the third day of careful consideration, the jury announced their verdict and found the 55-year-old hip-hop star guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. However, for the relief of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, he was acquitted of two counts of sex trafficking and one count of racketeering conspiracy; if he were to be found guilty in these charges, the rapper would’ve spent the rest of his time behind bars.
Even though the rapper was acquitted of the charges that could’ve landed him straight into prison for the rest of his life, the ‘No Way Out’ hitmaker would to received the maximum punishment for his sentence would be 10 years. As the verdict was being announced, the rapper held his hand in prayer and subtly clenched his fist.
During the trial, the defence argued that Combs should be allowed bail to return to his house in Florida. However, the opposing counsel, Assistant U.S. Attorney Maurene Comey, quickly put an end to the arguments by saying that Combs should remain incarcerated because if the rapper were to be allowed bail, he might commit new crimes or try to flee.
The judge on the trial, Judge Arun Subramanian, directed both sides to present their arguments in the form of letters for him to consider. Later, when the court was adjourned, Combs was seen wiping his face, knelt at the chair he was sitting on, and bowed his head in the form of prayer as his family members stood up and applauded.
It is pertinent to mention here that Combs has been behind bars ever since his arrest in September 2024; the start of the accusations was in November 2023. However, they settled the following day. Moreover, Combs is facing charges of civil sexual abuse. He has denied all such allegations.
