A number of Muslims offered Taraweeh, special prayers for the month of Ramadan, for the first time at iconic Times Square in New York.

Before Taraweeh prayers, organisers arranged Iftar party at the world’s famous square where more than 1,500 Iftar boxes were distributed among Muslims.

The videos from the event have gone viral on social media with people appreciating the historic Muslims’ gathering in the US.

Maasya Allah, Sholat tarawih pertama di Times Square NY….ini bukan negara muslim loh ❤️. Makanya agak aneh, kalau orang baca Qur’an di Malioboro aja dijulidin. Saya doakan utk mrka yg julid kelak akan jadi pecinta Qur’an sejati. Aamiin pic.twitter.com/ACDsRCHg7W
