ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif celebrated Pakistan’s nuclear progress and urged a revitalized spirit of unity and resolve to advance the nation into an economic powerhouse. In his message to the nation on the eve of Youm-e-Takbeer, he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Allah Almighty. He offered sincere congratulations to the people of Pakistan, stating, “Today on Youm-e-Takbeer, I thank Allah Almighty and congratulate from the core of my heart the entire nation and all patriotic Pakistanis.”

On the 27th anniversary of Pakistan’s status as the seventh nuclear power in the world and the first among Muslim countries, Prime Minister Sharif highlighted that Youm-e-Takbeer is not just a celebration; it is a serious reminder of Pakistan’s dedication to safeguarding its sovereignty.

The Premier linked this year’s commemoration with Pakistan’s recent success in defending itself from “an unjustified war imposed by India.”

He reflected back to the historic nuclear tests of May 28, 1998, under the leadership of the then-Prime Minister and PMLN Chief Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan responded with six nuclear tests against five conducted by India. Pakistan refused to give in to the demands of global powers and displayed its “iron resolve” to protect its sovereignty.

PM Shehbaz paid tribute to the father of Pakistan’s atomic bomb Dr. A.Q Khan, the architects of Pakistan’s nuclear program, including Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the scientific community, and the armed forces for their pivotal role in establishing Pakistan’s deterrent capability. The Premier commended the entire nation for their unwavering support.

“I salute the nation, which made immense sacrifices for the completion of the nuclear program and wrote a proud story of its determination and faith,” the premier stated.

Reflecting on the historical journey of Pakistan’s nuclear program alongside the nation’s formation, he highlighted the remarkable leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He confidently stated, “National history is a witness that the people and political leadership of Pakistan have always made the impossible possible.”

He encouraged the nation to embody the essence of Youm-e-Takbeer as a force for both defense and economic change. He remarked, “Youm-e-Takbeer is a day of unity for our nation and a declaration of unwavering commitment to our freedom and sovereignty. Today, we vow to elevate Pakistan to an economic powerhouse and secure its rightful place in the world. Insha Allah. Long live Pakistan.”
