Since Prime Minister Imran Khan has claimed that foreign forces are involved in efforts to topple his government, a section of people has been linking it with the US that is said to be aggrieved over Pakistan’s tilt towards Russia.
During a massive political gathering on March 27, the prime minister brandished a letter during his address and claimed that it is the “evidence” of foreign threats being received by his government. He did not mention the name of any country.
The revelations come at a time when he is facing a no-confidence motion submitted by the Opposition against him the National Assembly. The joint Opposition is also in strong command as he has achieved the numbers to oust the prime minister.
Amid speculations about the American involvement in the no-trust move, a Pakistani media outlet talked to the US State Department on it.
Responding to a question by GEO News, the State Department termed the claims of their government’s involvement in such conspiracy baseless.
“Allegations of US involvement in the no-trust motion and ‘threat letter’ to PM Imran Khan are baseless,” the media report quoted the State Department as saying.
The US government is monitoring the political situation of Pakistan, however it respects the Constitutional process of the country.
