LOS ANGELES – Netflix and AMC Global Media have signed a five-year global streaming agreement worth $500 million, bringing the entire The Walking Dead Universe under one streaming destination for audiences around the world.

Netflix and AMC Global agreement

The agreement will make Netflix the global streaming home for all six spin-off series alongside the original The Walking Dead, although the arrangement will be co-exclusive with AMC+.

The original The Walking Dead has been available on Netflix since 2011. Under the new agreement, the franchise will also expand into additional international markets, including the United Kingdom, Italy, Australia and New Zealand, beginning next year as existing licensing agreements expire.

Netflix Vice President of Licensing Lori Conkling said the zombie franchise has continued attracting new audiences for nearly 15 years on the platform.

She said Netflix was pleased to deepen its partnership with AMC Global Media and expand access to the complete franchise for viewers worldwide.

The company reported net revenue of $547 million, representing a 9% year-on-year decline. Operating income stood at $16 million, while adjusted operating income reached $46 million, down 75% and 58%, respectively.

Despite the decline, the company raised its financial outlook, citing the new Netflix agreement and additional distribution partnerships with platforms including YouTube and Comcast.
