ISLAMABAD – Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man: Brand New Day has delivered one of the strongest box office openings in Hollywood history, with the superhero film projected to earn around $325 million during its opening weekend in North America.
The latest Spider-Man installment collected $168 million on Friday across 4,487 theatres, a figure that includes an impressive $72 million from Thursday preview screenings. The strong performance has exceeded Sony’s initial projections of $195 million domestically and $465 million globally.

With audiences awarding the film an A CinemaScore, industry analysts believe the movie could finish among the biggest opening weekends ever, with some rival estimates suggesting it could even challenge Avengers: Endgame’s domestic debut of $357.1 million.
Spider-Man breaks multiple box office records
The film has already secured two major box office milestones. It recorded the highest opening Friday in North American box office history by earning $168 million, surpassing Avengers: Endgame’s previous record of $156.7 million.
It also established a new record for Thursday previews, collecting $72 million, comfortably beating Endgame’s previous benchmark of $60 million.
The opening weekend also comfortably surpasses the $260.1 million domestic debut of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which previously held the record for the biggest Spider-Man opening after its release in December 2021.

The film has received overwhelmingly positive reactions from both audiences and critics. It currently holds a 90% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, while audiences have given it an impressive 98% audience score. Reviewers have particularly praised Tom Holland’s performance as Peter Parker.

Universal’s The Odyssey, which topped the domestic box office for the previous two weekends, is expected to fall to second place with around $51 million in domestic box office, taking its domestic total to $395 million.
