KARACHI – Samsung is preparing to discontinue two of its augmented reality apps, AR Doodle and Quick Measurement, as the company reduces support for the older features.
The two apps will no longer be available for download from the Galaxy Store after December 31, 2026. Samsung has updated the change logs for both applications on the Galaxy Store to notify users about the upcoming shutdown.
AR Doodle
AR Doodle allows users to create virtual drawings using their smartphone’s camera.
Users can draw over people, objects and other elements visible through the camera. On supported Samsung devices, the feature also allows users to create drawings with an S Pen.
The app was designed to add augmented reality effects to the camera experience.
Quick Measurement
Quick Measurement uses the smartphone camera to estimate the size and distance of objects in the surrounding environment.
The tool can measure items such as walls and larger objects without requiring a separate measuring device.
Its usefulness, however, depends on the device’s camera capabilities and software support.
Support already limited on newer devices
Samsung has already limited the availability of both apps on some newer smartphones.
The apps are reportedly unavailable or unsupported on newer devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold8.
After December 31, Samsung will stop distributing the applications to new devices. The company will also end support for them on future operating system versions.
The change may become more noticeable following the stable rollout of One UI 9.
Existing users may continue using the apps
The December 31 deadline does not necessarily mean that the apps will immediately stop working for everyone.
Users who already have AR Doodle or Quick Measurement installed may continue using them as long as their device software remains compatible.
However, Samsung will no longer provide the apps to new devices or maintain compatibility with future operating system releases.
This means the apps could eventually stop working as Samsung updates its software and devices.
Samsung moves away from older AR features
The decision marks the end of support for two camera-based augmented reality tools that have been available on Samsung devices.
With the apps being phased out and support already limited on some newer models, Samsung appears to be moving away from these standalone AR experiences.
Users who rely on either application may need to look for alternative measurement or augmented reality tools as Samsung moves toward newer software experiences.
