LAHORE – Grand Theft Auto VI could feature a system allowing players to exchange in-game currency for real-world money, according to claims circulating online from a leaker known as Cyberleek.
The claim emerged on August 19 alongside a series of alleged GTA 6 gameplay videos and map images attributed to the same source.
Rockstar Games, however, has not confirmed the authenticity of the leaked material or indicated that the upcoming title will include a real-money currency exchange system.
The claim should therefore be treated with caution, particularly because Cyberleek has a financial interest in the attention generated by the leaks.
GTA 6 leak reveals alleged new gameplay systems
The alleged footage reportedly comes from an early build of GTA 6 featuring protagonist Jason Duval.
One of the reported features is a dual-currency system that separates cash carried by the player from money held in a bank account.
The leak also claims that GTA 6 could increase the maximum wanted level to six stars, compared with the five-star limit in GTA V.
Police interactions are also reportedly being expanded. Characters may be able to recognise players more accurately, while players could disguise themselves or surrender during police pursuits.
The alleged footage further points to a detection system showing how aware police officers are of a player’s presence during stealth sequences.

Combat mechanics are reportedly more detailed, with stamina decreasing during prolonged fights and non-lethal weapons such as tasers available to players.
Vehicles are also said to have expanded mechanics, including trunk inventories, fuel gauges and multiple methods of hotwiring and stealing cars.
The leaked material reportedly includes a basketball mini-game with its own progression system.
Another batch of alleged material was expected to surface on August 20 at 5am Pakistan Standard Time, with reports suggesting it could contain additional gameplay footage involving environmental interactions and police behaviour.
The most significant claim concerns the alleged ability to convert in-game currency into real-world money.
If introduced, the system would be a major change for a mainstream game’s virtual economy. It could also attract attention from the Web3 gaming sector. The sector has long promoted giving digital assets real-world value.
However, there is no official evidence that GTA 6 will let players withdraw or exchange in-game currency for real money.
The claim originates from an anonymous source and has not been backed by Rockstar Games. It is therefore not possible to establish whether the alleged feature belongs to the game or is part of an unverified leak.
Cyberleek’s cryptocurrency adds to questions over leak
Questions over the claims have grown after Cyberleek launched a Solana-based memecoin called CYBERLEEK on August 18. This was one day before the alleged GTA 6 material emerged.
The token reportedly recorded about $11.8 million in trading volume after its launch. Its market capitalisation also reached around $1.73 million.

Cyberleek has described the leaks as part of a digital rights campaign. It has also criticised preorder practices and a lack of transparency from game publishers.
Stop Killing Games rejected that explanation. The group linked the leak activity to the memecoin and said the situation was not helpful to its campaign.
Other analysts have also questioned the cryptocurrency project and raised concerns about its credibility.
The financial connection means the claims surrounding the alleged GTA 6 currency system require particular scrutiny.
Rockstar takes action against leaked material
Rockstar has not publicly confirmed that the leaked files are genuine. The company has, however, issued DMCA takedown notices against posts containing the circulated material.
The copyright action indicates that Rockstar is seeking to remove the material, but it does not independently confirm the accuracy of the information contained in the leaks.
For now, the alleged GTA 6 real-money currency exchange system remains unverified.
More information could emerge during the game’s upcoming Netflix presentation scheduled for August 27, 2026. The event could provide a clearer picture of GTA 6’s economy and other gameplay mechanics.
Until Rockstar provides official information, claims that players will be able to convert GTA 6 currency into real-world money should be treated as unconfirmed.
