ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is likely to invite PayPal, the global online payment giant, to launch its services in Pakistan in a meeting with company official during his upcoming visit to Switzerland.

The premier is scheduled to attend the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos next week where he is scheduled to hold meeting with global leaders, the CEOs of energy sectors, and commerce delegations.

Reports said that he will also meet with PayPal representatives wherein he will invite it to Pakistan.

On Tuesday, the prime minister while chairing the cabinet meeting had sought from the authorities concerned reasons why PayPal is reluctant to launch its serves in Pakistan.

Back in 2015 and 2019, the Pakistani government had made efforts to bring PayPal to Pakistan but the company had refused to enter the market of the South Asian country due to various regulatory restrictions and other issues.
