LAHORE – Google’s compliance with Pakistan regulations has reached 88 percent, according to PTA Chairman Major General (retd) Hafeez Ur Rehman.

The statement came during the launch of Google’s Digital Pasban program. The PTA chairman said the regulator continues to work with social media companies to improve compliance with local laws.

He said digital safety and online regulation have become increasingly important as internet usage continues to grow in Pakistan.

Hafeez Ur Rehman said the PTA receives around 500 social media-related complaints every day.

He added that the authority regularly communicates with technology companies to address these concerns.

The PTA holds in-person meetings with social media platforms every two months. The chairman also holds weekly online meetings with company representatives.

These discussions focus on Pakistani laws, platform responsibilities and improving compliance.

Pakistan Focuses On Digital Safety

The PTA chairman highlighted the growing need for safer online spaces, especially for children.

He said children today spend more time on digital platforms compared with previous generations.

According to him, parents, regulators and technology companies must work together to promote responsible internet usage.

He added that protecting younger users has become a major priority as digital platforms continue expanding.

PTA Works To Improve Internet Connectivity

Alongside digital regulation, the PTA is also working to improve connectivity across Pakistan.

Hafeez Ur Rehman said reliable internet access has become essential in modern life.

He pointed to Pakistan’s March spectrum auction as a major step towards improving digital services.

The country auctioned 480 MHz of spectrum, the highest amount offered in a single auction in Pakistan’s history.

The additional spectrum is expected to support better connectivity and improve network capacity.

New Technology Requires Updated Rules

The PTA chairman said rapid technological development has created new challenges for regulators.

He said emerging technologies require updated policies and stronger regulatory frameworks.

The authority is working with social media companies to create a balance between innovation, user safety and legal compliance.

Regular discussions with technology platforms are part of this effort.

Google Digital Pasban Program Targets Online Awareness

The comments were made during the launch of Google’s Digital Pasban initiative.

The program focuses on improving digital awareness and encouraging safer online practices.

With more Pakistanis using digital platforms, officials believe awareness about online safety has become increasingly important.

The initiative aims to help users understand responsible digital behaviour.

What Google’s Compliance Means For Pakistan

The reported Google compliance with Pakistan regulations shows increasing cooperation between technology companies and Pakistani authorities.

The government wants platforms to follow local laws while supporting digital growth.

At the same time, technology companies face the challenge of operating under different regulations worldwide.

For Pakistan, the goal is to create a safer digital environment without slowing technological progress.

The PTA says continued cooperation between regulators and platforms will remain important as Pakistan’s digital landscape expands.
