KARACHI – Google has launched its first Googlebook laptops, introducing a new category of premium devices aimed at users who want a closer connection between their Android phones and computers.
The company has unveiled five Googlebook models from Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo. The laptops focus on cross-device features, built-in artificial intelligence and hardware designed for modern workloads.
According to Google’s Android ecosystem president Sameer Samat, the Googlebook project is intended to provide a smoother experience for people who already use Android smartphones.
Googlebook brings Android phones and laptops closer
A key part of the Googlebook experience is its integration with Android smartphones.
The Continue On feature allows users to resume tasks on their Googlebook after starting them on an Android phone.
Google has also added a built-in Files feature that allows users to access, search and open files and photos stored on their Android phones directly from the laptop.
Another feature, Cast My Apps, allows Android applications to appear in desktop windows. This lets users work with mobile applications alongside their laptop tasks.
Google said Android applications will also automatically adapt to different screen sizes when moved between devices.
Gemini AI built into Googlebook
Google is making Gemini AI a central part of the Googlebook experience.
The Magic Pointer allows users to activate Gemini by moving the cursor and selecting content on the screen. Gemini can then provide assistance based on the information being viewed.
Google has also introduced Rambler, a voice-dictation feature that can respond to changes during speech, including switching between languages. The tool can also remove filler words from dictated content.
Another feature, Create My Widget, allows users to describe a widget in natural language, which Gemini can then generate.
Google said Gemini features will not carry out actions without the user’s permission.
Each Googlebook also comes with one year of Google AI Pro, including 5TB of cloud storage and access to Gemini’s advanced tools.
Five Googlebook models announced
Google’s initial Googlebook lineup consists of five laptops from different manufacturers.
The devices use materials such as aluminium, magnesium alloy and carbon fibre. They also feature haptic glass trackpads, backlit keyboards, Dolby Atmos speakers and touchscreen displays.
Some models offer OLED panels with resolutions of up to 2.8K.

Googlebook laptops feature a new Glowbar
Google has also introduced a new design element called the Glowbar on the lid of its Googlebook laptops.
The Glowbar illuminates when the laptop starts up and can display battery information. It can also show animations during interactions with Gemini, along with other hidden animations.
The feature is intended to give Googlebook devices a distinctive visual identity while providing additional information to users.
Play Store apps and gaming support
Googlebooks will support applications from the Google Play Store, allowing users to run mobile and desktop applications on the laptops.
Google is also expanding gaming support, with 20,000 game titles available at launch with cross-device play support.
The company is introducing a Level Up programme for gaming and will provide Googlebook buyers with one year of Nvidia GeForce Now access.
Googlebooks will receive 10 years of automatic updates. Buyers will also receive three months of YouTube Premium and Adobe Photoshop.
Chromebooks will continue alongside Googlebook
Despite the new product category, Google said Chromebooks will continue to be available.
The company said Chromebooks will remain particularly relevant in education and enterprise markets. Google also confirmed that new Chromebook models are expected to launch in the coming months.
The Googlebook launch therefore marks an expansion of Google’s laptop lineup rather than the end of its Chromebook platform.
