KARACHI – Spider-Man: Brand New Day continued its strong run at the box office over the weekend, earning $70 million in North America and remaining at the top of the domestic chart for a third consecutive week.
The latest figures give the Tom Holland-led Marvel film the second-biggest third weekend in domestic box office history. Only Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which earned $90.2 million in its third weekend in 2016, has performed better.
The film has also strengthened its position on the all-time domestic box office chart. After 17 days, Brand New Day has collected $785.8 million in North America, moving into fourth place and narrowly passing Avatar, which finished with $785.2 million.
The next film ahead of it is 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, which earned $814.8 million domestically.
Brand New Day crosses $2 billion worldwide
The latest Spider-Man film also crossed the $2 billion mark at the global box office during the weekend.
The film has so far collected approximately $2.022 billion worldwide, making it the eighth movie to reach the milestone and the second-fastest to do so after Avengers: Endgame.
Its worldwide total has also taken it past No Way Home, which finished its theatrical run with about $1.9 billion.
