KARACHI – Anmol Pinky has sought acquittal in another narcotics case pending before a Karachi sessions court, arguing that the prosecution does not have sufficient evidence to secure her conviction.
Pinky, who has been accused by police of involvement in drug trafficking, filed the application under Section 265-K of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).
The application relates to an older case registered at the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police station. The latest development comes after she was acquitted in three other narcotics cases registered at Karachi’s Gizri police station.
Anmol Pinky Seeks Acquittal Under Section 265-K
Through her lawyer, Mir Hidayatullah, Pinky argued that there was no substantial evidence against her in the CTD case.
Section 265-K allows a court to acquit an accused at any stage of a case if, after hearing the prosecution and defence, it considers that there is no probability of conviction.
The court has issued a notice to the Deputy Public Prosecutor and sought the prosecution’s response. The next hearing is scheduled for October 14.
The latest application does not amount to an acquittal. The court will decide the plea after considering the prosecution’s position.
Pinky Was Previously Acquitted in Three Cases
The latest plea comes nearly two months after Pinky was acquitted in three narcotics cases registered at Gizri police station.
Those cases dated back to 2020, 2021 and 2022.
The Additional District and Sessions Court (South) accepted her separate applications under Section 265-K and acquitted her in all three cases.
The court also directed jail authorities to release her if she was not required in any other case. However, reports said she remained in custody because other cases were still pending against her.
Why Was Anmol Pinky Acquitted in Those Cases?
Pinky’s defence argued that she had been implicated in the cases mainly through statements allegedly made by two co-accused, Ali and Fahmida.
Both co-accused had already been acquitted in 2024.
The defence maintained that their acquittals weakened the prosecution’s case against Pinky because the allegations against her were linked to statements attributed to the two individuals.
The court ultimately found that the prosecution had failed to present sufficient evidence to sustain the three cases.
New Plea Concerns an Older CTD Case
The current application concerns a different case.
According to reports, the CTD case was registered in 2018, and Pinky had previously been declared a proclaimed absconder in connection with it.
Her lawyer has now asked the sessions court to acquit her, arguing that the available evidence is not enough to support a conviction.
The prosecution will have an opportunity to respond before the court decides whether the case should proceed.
Two Alleged Facilitators Reportedly Abscond
The latest proceedings also come amid developments involving two alleged facilitators linked to the wider case.
According to reports, two alleged facilitators have gone into hiding after securing bail in the case. Their status remains separate from the court’s consideration of Pinky’s acquittal plea.
Earlier proceedings involving alleged facilitators included claims about financial transactions and digital evidence.
In June, a Karachi sessions court rejected post-arrest bail applications filed by Zeeshan-ur-Rehman and Sohail-ur-Rehman, observing that bank records and digital evidence had, at the preliminary stage, linked them to the alleged narcotics network.
The defence, however, disputed the allegations and maintained that the two men had no connection with drug trafficking.
Pinky Still Faces Other Legal Proceedings
The three Gizri acquittals do not mean that all cases against Pinky have ended.
Dawn reported in August that a supplementary CTD charge sheet had revealed more than a dozen cases registered against her. She had also been arrested in May 2026 in connection with cases registered at Garden police station involving alleged drug possession and an unlicensed weapon.
The latest application is therefore another legal challenge in a series of proceedings involving Pinky.
Her defence is now seeking to have the CTD case dismissed on the grounds that the prosecution lacks sufficient evidence.
Court to Hear Prosecution’s Response
The Karachi sessions court has not yet ruled on Pinky’s latest acquittal request.
The prosecution will first respond to the application before the court determines whether the case should continue.
For now, Anmol Pinky seeks acquittal in the CTD narcotics case, while her previous acquittals in three Gizri cases remain separate from the other proceedings against her.
The October 14 hearing is expected to provide the next update on her latest legal challenge.
