ISLAMABAD – The federal government on Saturday secretly increased the Pakistan Television (PTV) fee from Rs35 to Rs100.
Even though most citizens do not watch the national TV channel but have to pay the said amount. The govt, through this unjust fee, will earn an estimated Rs21 billion annually. This will be significantly more than the previous collections, which amounted to Rs.7.5 billion per year.
In addition to that, the government also earns revenue from private advertisements run on PTV. On the other hand, the government has not yet paid Rs6bn due to media houses for advertisements.
