GUJRANWALA – Police in Gujranwala have registered a case against a man and his father after an Australian-born transgender person alleged that they were defrauded of more than Rs40 million through a fake marriage.

Police arrested the main suspect, identified as Usman, along with his father Qasim after the complaint was filed at Ladhewala Warraich Police Station.

According to the FIR, the complainant first came into contact with Usman through TikTok in 2024. The two later developed a relationship, after which the complainant travelled to Pakistan twice.

The case involves allegations of fraud, a fake marriage document and unlawful confinement. Police are investigating the claims and examining the evidence.

How The Rs40 Million Fraud Allegedly Happened

According to the complaint, Usman allegedly arranged a fake Nikahnama to present the relationship as a marriage.

The document was reportedly registered with Union Council No. 39. The complainant alleged that Usman and his family later obtained more than Rs40 million from them through various financial transactions.

The money was allegedly transferred into accounts linked to the suspects.

Police will now have to establish how the alleged marriage document was prepared and how the financial transfers took place.

The claims remain allegations at this stage and have not been proven in court.

Relationship Began Through TikTok

The Gujranwala fake marriage case reportedly began with an online connection.

The FIR states that Usman contacted the Australian citizen through TikTok in 2024. Their online interaction eventually developed into a relationship.

The complainant then travelled from Australia to Pakistan on two occasions to meet him.

According to the complaint, the alleged fake marriage took place during these visits. Police are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the purported marriage and its documentation.

Complainant Allegedly Prevented From Leaving Pakistan

The complaint also contains allegations of unlawful confinement.

According to the FIR, the Australian citizen later attempted to return to Australia. The suspects allegedly prevented them from leaving and demanded additional money.

The complainant further alleged that the suspects demanded Australian visas for Usman and his family members.

The complainant reportedly managed to escape on June 1 and reached Lahore before approaching the authorities.

Police subsequently registered the case and took Usman and his father into custody.

Police Investigate Fake Nikahnama Allegations

The alleged marriage document is now an important part of the investigation.

The complainant claimed that the suspects arranged a fake Nikahnama. Police are expected to verify the document and check relevant Union Council records.

Investigators will also examine the alleged financial transactions and other evidence connected to the complaint.

The case comes amid other recent investigations in Punjab involving alleged forged marriage documents. Earlier this month, Gujranwala’s Anti-Corruption Establishment arrested a Nikah registrar and Nikah Khawan in a separate forgery case involving allegedly fabricated signatures and thumb impressions on a Nikahnama.

That separate case does not establish any connection with the current Gujranwala investigation.

Usman And Father Taken Into Custody

Police have arrested Usman and his father Qasim following the complaint.

Authorities are continuing to investigate their alleged roles in the case.

The investigation will need to establish whether the marriage document was fabricated, whether the alleged Rs40 million transfers occurred as described and whether the complainant was unlawfully confined.

Police have not yet announced a final conclusion on the allegations.

What Happens Next In The Rs40 Million Case?

The suspects will face the legal process as investigators collect evidence and record statements.

The alleged financial transactions could provide important evidence if investigators confirm the transfers through banking records.

Police may also examine the alleged marriage registration, digital communications and other material related to the relationship.

For now, the Rs40 million fraud allegation remains part of the complainant’s case. The suspects have not been convicted, and the allegations must be established through the investigation and court proceedings.

The case highlights how relationships that begin through social media can sometimes develop into serious legal disputes involving money, documentation and alleged coercion.
