KARACHI- The Sindh arms license ban has suspended the issuance of new arms licenses and arms dealership licenses across the province with immediate effect, according to the Sindh Home Department.
Under the new directive, all licensing authorities in Sindh have been instructed to stop issuing new arms licenses until further orders.
The provincial government said the decision was taken to strengthen the regulation and monitoring of firearms across Sindh.
New Arms Licenses Suspended In Sindh
The Sindh Home Department has directed all relevant licensing authorities to halt the issuance of fresh arms licenses.
The restriction also applies to new licenses for arms dealerships, preventing authorities from approving new dealership applications during the suspension period.
Officials have instructed licensing offices across the province to strictly implement the decision and ensure compliance with the government order.
Exceptions Allowed With Special Approval
Although the government has suspended routine issuance of new licenses, exceptions may be considered in specific cases.
According to the Sindh Home Department, an arms license can still be issued in exceptional circumstances after approval from the competent authority.
Such approvals will be required from authorized officials, including the home minister or chief minister where applicable under existing rules and procedures.
Officials clarified that these exceptions do not represent a general relaxation of the ban and each case will be reviewed separately according to regulations.
Sindh Government Moves To Tighten Firearms Regulation
The Sindh arms license ban is part of the provincial government’s efforts to improve oversight of firearm licensing and strengthen regulatory controls.
Authorities have previously focused on improving arms license management, including steps to modernize records and improve monitoring of licensed weapons and dealers.

Arms Dealership Licenses Also Halted
