Selena Gomez explains her stance over Israel-Hamas conflict

Published

on

Washington – Selena Gomez recently broke her silence over her absence on social media amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict. The ‘Lose You to Love Me’ singer gave her point of view on her Instagram handle on Monday night, explaining the reason as to why she had to take a break from social media before the conflict.

The world-famous actor told her fans the reason behind her taking a break from social media because she is unable to see the hate, violence, and terror that is all over social media. She said that women and children are being killed without discrimination. She further stated that all people should be protected, especially women and children, and put an end to violence.

Furthermore, she said that she didn’t believe that a social media post has the power to make a difference. The innocent people are being hurt, which hurts the actress even more, and she wishes that she could get the power to change the world, which a post won’t do.

Selena quickly came under fire for her post as her followers insisted that she has the platform and the power to make a significant impact, as she is the most-followed woman on Instagram.

Instagram targets harassment videos shot with Meta Smart Glasses

Instagram targets harassment videos shot with Meta Smart Glasses

ISLAMABAD – Instagram is taking action against videos recorded with Meta smart glasses that show creators harassing or exploiting strangers in public.

The crackdown focuses on disruptive prank videos targeting service workers, as well as “pickup” videos where women or other strangers are filmed without knowing. Instagram head Adam Mosseri confirmed the policy change via Instagram Stories.

“Instagram will remove content in which creators secretly record, harass, and upload footage of people,” Mosseri said. Meta’s existing community guidelines already prohibit bullying and harassment across Instagram, Facebook, and Threads.

Prank Videos Targeting Workers and Strangers

Videos filmed using Meta smart glasses have become increasingly common on Instagram Reels and TikTok. Some creators use the glasses to secretly record themselves performing pranks on cashiers, fast-food employees, and other service workers.

One viral example involved spraying a candle in a Walmart store with fart spray and asking employees or customers to smell it. Other videos show creators entering stores, behaving disruptively, and deliberately provoking reactions from staff and the public.

Pickup Videos Also Face Removal

Instagram is also targeting pickup videos filmed via smart glasses. In these videos, creators approach women in gyms, shops, or public spaces while recording from a first-person perspective.

While some interactions remain friendly, the person being approached often does not immediately know they are being filmed.

Business Insider reported that Instagram deactivated two major pickup-artist accounts that relied on smart glasses, each with more than a million followers. A Meta spokesperson confirmed the removals were for violating harassment rules, though the company did not disclose how many videos had been deleted.

Recording Lights Can Be Hard to Notice

Meta smart glasses feature a white indicator light that flashes while recording photos or videos. While the light is meant to alert nearby people, it can be difficult to see in bright outdoor conditions. Some users have even modified older glasses to cover or disable the light.

Meta Strengthens Protections

Meta’s second-generation smart glasses now automatically disable the camera if the system detects that the recording light has been covered. The company is expanding this protection to stop recording if the light is damaged.

Users cannot record until the light is fully operational. Meta also removes ads, posts, and Marketplace listings promoting services that modify the recording indicator. Accounts offering these services may be banned, and legal action may follow.

Ongoing Privacy Concerns

Meta glasses have drawn criticism for enabling first-person recording without holding a phone or traditional camera. Prank and pickup videos have heightened concerns about privacy and appropriate behaviour in public.

The glasses have even been given an offensive nickname online due to fears of unwanted recordings. Instagram’s crackdown does not prevent people from filming in public. Instead, it targets creators who use footage to harass, embarrass, or exploit others.

Meta has not clarified how it will identify all violating videos or whether new rules specifically for smart glasses content will be introduced.

KARACHI – Disney has unveiled the first official trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, offering Marvel fans their clearest look yet at Robert Downey Jr.’s transformation into the iconic villain Doctor Doom. The highly anticipated superhero film is scheduled to arrive in theatres on December 18 and marks another major chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The trailer, which was previously shown exclusively during CinemaCon earlier this year, features Downey wearing Doctor Doom’s signature mask for the first time on screen. The Oscar-winning actor previously portrayed Tony Stark, better known as Iron Man, making his return to Marvel in a completely different role.

Chris Hemsworth’s Thor delivers one of the trailer’s most significant moments as he warns the assembled heroes about the looming threat.

“Put aside your petty squabbles. Presume nothing except this: If you return, you will return as brothers and sisters,” Thor says. “Mark my words: We are going to need a miracle.”

The footage also includes a surprise appearance by Chris Evans. In one scene, Evans catches Thor off guard by wielding Thor’s legendary hammer, prompting Hemsworth’s character to respond, “It’s not possible.”

Marvel had previously released teaser footage showcasing characters including Black Panther, Captain America, Thor and Cyclops from the X-Men. However, Downey’s full appearance as Doctor Doom remained hidden until the release of the official trailer.

The director of Avengers: Doomsday

Avengers: Doomsday is directed by Joe Russo and Anthony Russo from a screenplay written by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely. The filmmaking duo return to the MCU for the first time since directing Avengers: Endgame, which became one of the highest-grossing films in cinema history.

Speaking during CinemaCon, Joe Russo described Doctor Doom as one of Marvel’s most layered characters.

“He’s not simply a villain — he’s one of the most complex Marvel characters. He’s always three moves ahead.”

Downey also reflected on his return to the franchise during the event.

“I couldn’t have imagined reuniting with this amazing team — let alone as a new character.”

The newly released trailer sets the stage for what could become one of Marvel Studios’ biggest cinematic events, bringing together an extensive lineup of superheroes against one of the franchise’s most formidable villains.

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Gen Z challenges are shaping the experiences of millions of young Pakistanis. Despite being the most digitally connected generation, many feel uncertain about careers, social expectations, and their future.

Born roughly between the late 1990s and early 2010s, this generation faces a unique set of economic, social, and technological pressures that previous generations never encountered.

Education and Employment Gaps Highlight Pakistan Gen Z Challenges

One of the key Pakistan Gen Z challenges is the growing gap between education and employment. Thousands of university graduates enter the job market each year, yet quality employment opportunities are limited. Youth unemployment continues to rise, leaving many overqualified for available positions or struggling to find meaningful work. This disconnect often leads to frustration and social withdrawal.

Digital Isolation Adds to Pakistan Gen Z Challenges

Digital life has created both opportunities and challenges for Pakistan’s youth. While social media and online platforms keep Gen Z connected, they can also increase feelings of isolation. Young people may maintain hundreds of online connections but struggle to build meaningful in-person relationships. This disconnect contributes to emotional stress and a sense of being lost in today’s fast-paced, digital-first world.

Questioning Traditions and Defining Independence

Another important Pakistan Gen Z challenge is the shift in social expectations. Unlike previous generations, young Pakistanis increasingly question traditional career paths, authority, and social norms. They value flexibility, skill-based recognition, and personal fulfillment over rigid hierarchies. This mindset sometimes creates tension within families and workplaces but also reflects a generation striving for independence and self-respect.

Technology and Global Exposure Provide Opportunities

Despite the challenges, Pakistan Gen Z is also highly capable and entrepreneurial. Access to technology, global knowledge, and digital tools enables young people to explore freelancing, e-commerce, content creation, and remote work. These opportunities can transform Pakistan Gen Z challenges into advantages if the right support and policies are in place.

Society’s Role in Supporting Pakistan Gen Z

The question is not whether Gen Z is struggling—it is whether Pakistan provides the environment to succeed. Governments, educational institutions, businesses, and families must work together to close gaps between education and employment, digital life and real-life interaction, and ambition and opportunity. Proper guidance, skills development, and employment opportunities can turn this generation into a driving force for Pakistan’s future.

Key Points:

  • Pakistan Gen Z faces challenges in employment, education, and social expectations.
  • Digital connectivity increases both opportunity and isolation.
  • Young Pakistanis question traditional norms and prioritize independence.
  • Technology, freelancing, and entrepreneurship create new opportunities.
  • Society and government support are critical for turning challenges into national strengths.
