KARACHI – A Karachi court has acquitted Anmol Pinky in three narcotics cases registered at the city’s Gizri police station, but the ruling does not bring an end to the multiple criminal proceedings she continues to face.
The Additional District and Sessions Court (South) presided over by Judge Irshad Hussain, approved Pinky’s acquittal pleas on Thursday. The three cases date back to 2020, 2021, and 2022. She had previously been declared an absconder in the cases.
Her lawyer, Anam Kausar, argued that Pinky had been implicated in the cases on the basis of statements made by co-accused who were later acquitted. The defence maintained that their acquittals left no reasonable prospect of securing a conviction against Pinky in those cases.
Why Was Anmol Pinky Acquitted?
According to a court order cited by Dawn, Pinky was specifically named in the 2021 Gizri case after two people arrested for possessing narcotics allegedly told investigators that she had supplied them with drugs.
Her defense challenged the basis of the allegations, pointing out that the co-accused had subsequently been acquitted.
The court accepted the defense pleas in the three Gizri cases. Aaj News reported that the prosecution failed to present evidence sufficient to sustain the cases against Pinky, while the defense argued that the acquittal of the co-accused removed the reasonable prospect of her conviction.
The court ordered that Pinky be released if she was not required in any other case.
Anmol Pinky’s Arrest and Other Cases
The Anmol Pinky acquitted ruling comes months after her arrest in Karachi in May 2026.
Police and a federal intelligence agency arrested her in the Garden area on May 12. Authorities said they recovered around 1.5 kilogrammes of cocaine, a 9mm pistol and chemicals allegedly used in cocaine production from her possession. These allegations remain matters for the courts to determine.
Following her arrest, authorities brought her before courts in connection with several previously registered cases.
The number of cases linked to Pinky has been reported differently during the investigation. A subsequent CTD charge sheet submitted in July put the total at 21 cases, covering narcotics-related allegations as well as other charges.
Acquittal Does Not End Pinky’s Legal Troubles
While the latest ruling is significant, the Anmol Pinky acquittal applies specifically to the three Gizri narcotics cases.
Other proceedings remain pending.
Aaj News reported that cases at other police stations continue at different stages, including a Garden drug case and proceedings involving alleged facilitators. A separate case initially registered as murder at Baghdadi police station also recently saw its charge altered after a chemical examination attributed the death under investigation to drug intoxication.
In June, a Karachi court also rejected bail applications from alleged facilitators in a separate Pinky-related drug case. The court said bank records, digital evidence and other investigative material provided sufficient grounds for their alleged involvement at the preliminary stage.
What The Court Ruling Means
The acquittal highlights an important distinction between being accused in a criminal case and being convicted.
Pinky’s acquittal in the three Gizri cases means the court has cleared her of those particular charges. It does not establish that she has been cleared of every allegation against her, nor does it automatically affect the other cases still before the courts.
The remaining proceedings will depend on the evidence presented in each individual case and the decisions of the relevant courts.
For now, the latest ruling gives Anmol Pinky a significant legal reprieve in the three Gizri cases, while her other legal battles continue.
