GUMI/South Korea – Pakistan’s Olympic gold medalist and national hero, Arshad Nadeem, won gold with a massive 86.40m throw in the men’s javelin final at the Asian Athletics Championship. Nadeem missed breaking the championship by a slight difference. The record stands at 86.72m, but he secured the top spot nonetheless.
India’s young star Sachin Yadav earned the silver medal with a fantastic 85.16m throw, followed by Japan’s Yuta Sakiyama, who took bronze with 83.75m. Following close behind is Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage, who was in the lead early in the competition, finished fourth with an 83.27m throw, missing the podium by less than an inch. Another young Pakistani star, Yasir Sultan, placed eighth with a 75.39m throw.

Nadeem’s performance in the Championship took an emotional turn with ‘Dil Dil Pakistan’ echoing through the stadium. Since the Paris Olympics, this was his first international event.
It is important to note that he slowly paced forward with throws of 75.64m and 76.80m, and surged to the lead with an 85.57m throw on his third attempt. He clinched gold after throws of 83.99m and 83.44m, and a commanding 86.40m on his final attempt.
