Economic Survey 2024-25: Pakistan shows improvement and economic setbacks

KARACHI – The Pakistani government will release the Economic Survey for fiscal year 2024-25 today, on Monday. Finance Minister Aurangzeb will unveil the Economic Survey 2024-25. As per official sources, the GDP growth for FY2024- 25 stands at 2.68 pc less than the expected target of 3pc. However, it comes with a slight improvement compared to 2.51pc of last year.

The agriculture sector witnessed a decline and recorded a growth of only 0.56pc, a sharp decline compared to 6.4pc in the last year. The industrial sector recorded a growth of 4.7% as compared to 1.37% of the previous year. Large-scale industries witnessed a 1.53% rise. A major contributor to the overall growth was the construction industry, which expanded by 6.61%, compared to only 1.14% in FY2023–24.

 

The size of Pakistan’s economy now stands at $411 billion, gaining approximately $40 billion from $372 billion last year. The per capita income increased to $1,824, compared to $1,680 in the last fiscal year.

The negative developments in the Agricultural sector include:

  • Wheat: A decrease of 9.8% to 28.9 million tons
  • Rice: A decrease of 1.3% to 9.72 million tons
  • Sugarcane: A decrease of 3.8% to 84.2 million tons
  • Cotton: A decrease of 30.7% to 7 million bales
  • Corn: A decrease of 15.4% to 8.24 million tons
  • Pulses: A decrease of 14.1% to 29,658 tons

However, some positive developments were recorded, such as:

A sharp increase in vegetable output by 7.1%

A 4.1% increase in fruit production

KARACHI – On July 11, 2026, gold prices in Pakistan increased, following the upward trend in international markets.

According to the Saraffa Association, the price of 24-karat gold per tola increased to Rs 434,500 after a rise of Rs 1500, while the rate for 10 grams was Rs 372,520.

Today’s currency exchange rates in Pakistan – July 11, 2026

KARACHI – Foreign currency exchange rates for US Dollar, Saudi Riyal, UK Pound Sterling, U.A.E. Dirham, Euro, and other currencies in Pakistan open market on July 11, 2026. The US Dollar’s buying rate stands at Rs 279, and the selling rate at Rs 279.15.

Several other currencies, which include the Australian Dollar (AUD), Canadian Dollar (CAD), Chinese Yuan (CNY), Danish Krone (DKK), Japanese Yen (JPY), Kuwaiti Dinar (KWD), Malaysian Ringgit (MYR), New Zealand Dollar (NZD), and Swiss Franc (CHF), showed no significant change in their rates compared to the previous update.
